Cars I grew up with (some pinoys can relate)

Well, during the 70's and 80's, these were the cars to have. I would go to the saturday night drags which usually happens in the vicinity of Greenhills Shopping Center.

Anyway, I saw these toy cars and had to buy each one that was popular during my youth.

RA21 Celica
TE27 Levin
A75 Lancer GSR (the very first gen Lancer GSR whivh eventually became the EVO)
KP61 Startlet
AE86 Trueno
240Z

510 was never really available in the Philippines during the 70s. What we got were the ugly 180Bs. But, I am trying to track down a 510 Choro-Q to add to the collection.

Oh and I'm not that old (mid 30s), I just started really young with my love for cars.

Thumbs up

Nice memories you bring back. I grew up with the same cars. Yep, Greenhills was the spot. I still love the "smiley" Celica and all the rest of those cars. I finally got one of my dream cars one day (over here in the US), a KP61. No AG swap though, just the stock 4KE. Sadly it's long gone.
We had a '79 Corona that I lightly modded with Nodalo's exhaust and all. I miss that car.
BTW, I have the 510 Choro-Q in orange.

Yup, your dad will certainly be familiar with those cars

I started driving in 1983 (12 years old). Back then, it was pretty common for teens to be driving early.

Here's the only digital pic I have of this car - '73 Celica ST coupe. High School on the big island, you had to have a Toy.

Most drivers that learned to drive in the states would have a heart attack if they tried to drive in the Philippines. I think chicken was the game of choice.
