Subaru 4 pot = Nissan 4 pot (300ZX, Skyline GTS-t etc..)

Now, are they exactly the same down to the bracket?
or do I need to modify the bracket to make the USDM 300ZX caliper on Subaru..?

There was a thread on this on the old I club. I remember something being diffent. You may be right it could have been the bracket. Maybe a search would turn something up.

Using "bracket" and the 4pots together may not be a good idea. The Subaru 4pots do not use a seperate mounting bracket. The mounting ears are cast into the caliper body itself.

The TOP protion of the Nissan cast iron 4pots and the Subaru cast iron 4pots are very similar, but the mounting ears(again cast into the caliper body) on the Nissan calipers are closer together than on the Subarus. The aluminum Nissan 4pots look more dissimilar to the the Subaru 4pots.

It would be very difficult and not cost effective to try and make the Nissan calipers work on a Subaru. The only example of someone doing this I am aware of used a custom bracket adapter and larger custom rotor that moves the caliper far out enough to have room for the adapter. It would be virtually impossible to make an adapter to keep the Nissan caliper at the same diameter as the Subaru caliper. Its kinda hard to explain why unless you can picture it in 3D space.

I believe they use the same hardware though. Another example of this is the new Nissan 350Z Track edition having the same Brembo brakes as the upcoming STi.

hmmm. I see.
I'll stay away from Nissan caliper, looks a lot of work to make it fit.
The pads are exactly the same so those of you who has Subaru 4 pots should consider 300ZX pads too.

The 350ZX Brembo might have different Brembo to STi.
It looks the same but STi Brembo/ EVO Brembo/ GTR Brembo/Integra typeR Brembo are all different.

The pads on EVo and STi Brembo are the same. Same Ferrodo(maybe it was Brembo) pads and have same part number, but the thickness and the diameter of the rotor is different. Also the design of the caliper is different. GTR Brembo was a lot bigger than STi/EVO Brembo. If Nissan uses GTR Brembo on 350Z track edition, then it is bigger than STi Brembo. I think top grade of G35 coupe has Brembo too.

I was told that the Nissan 300 ZX used an aluminum caliper for about 2 years! and the cool thing about the Nissan caliper instead of the Subaru one is the fact that the Nissan uses a mush thicker rotor!....i am conteplating test fitting a set of Nissan 2 pot rears on my car, or just going for the Subaru Ones!

Just too bad it's too much work to fit the Nissan's aluminum 4pots to Subaru...
