So i just came home from San Francisco and when i turn my car off i noticed my parking lights won't turn off. I checked all my fuses and they all seem fine. i did disable the DRL so i went to plug that back in thinking it would've been the problem but they still won't turn off. anyone else ever run into this problem? any help would be great. thanks in advance!

can't offer much help for the actual problem. but you should find the fuse for your parking lights and pull it out. at least that way you won't drain your battery.

pretty sure that would cut off your turn signals too

problem fixed. it WAS the switch on the stearing column. my brother was driving it earlier and parked in front of my aunts house to load up and he tried to hit the hazard button not knowing that the actual hazard button is between the 2 vents on the dash and not the switch on the stearing column. man was i freaking out! luckily it wasn't something very major. thanks again for all your help!

haha, I wondered for the first few days and then bumped it I think getting out of the car to go to work. Luckily I was still in the mindset from my old car and had a portable jump start thing with me at all times

Heh. Someone actually went to my dad's shop asking how to turn off the parking lights.

Anyone know why these are on most if not all Subarus and what their function is? Just use em when parking?

Most places around the world require, by law, that parking lights be on when you are not moving and parked on the side of the road. Not all places have good highway lighting like many places in the US. It's a safety thing. For Scoobys, w/o this switch, you would need to leave the key in the ignition in ACC in order to put the parking lights on. It seems subaru has gone through great lengths in order to prevent you from running down your battery by accident. Heck, even the glove box light won't come on unless you have the key in and the lights are turned on.

LOL ha ha....same friggen thing happened to me when I first got my WRX. I was in a safeway parking lot when I noticed the lights on. I was like, "WTF". Then after about 5 minutes of sitting the drivers seat cursing the dealership for giving me a faulty car I spotted the infamous switch.
