Hey when you wash subaru do you sort of spray water maybe by accident into the hood scoop, since you cannot get water into their. Like if it is raining the hood scoop closes up a little. IS it a bad thing to get water their, to where it gets into the intercooler.

Unless there's a hole in your intercooler, no water is getting inside. It will drip right passed the fins, onto the engine block or tranny, and eventually make its way to the ground.

I wash my hood scoop all the time. You wouldn't believe how many SRT-4s I have get in there ;)

STI's have a IC spray. (which helps to lower temps) So it's actually a good thing.

As long as you don't put the hose directly on it for 30 minutes, I think you'll be fine.

you will be fine from water sprays. i used to have a cusco vented hood, and water gets in all the time.

how woud the hood scoop "close up a little in the rain?" the intercooler is a sealed tank and if water on it was bad they'd design it to not be able to get wet

naw, i think its all good if you spray some water into your scoop and get water into your engine bay. all its gonna do is touch your intercooler and drip down. just dont shove your hose into your scoop and flood a hot turbo with water or else it might crack it or something.

i dont think that is true. the hood scoop remains one opening all the time. and there no sensor or anything to tell if its raining or any kind of mechanism that will control the opening and closing of the hood scoop.

Nah, its just that i heard it closes up so the intercooler doesnt flood with water or so not to much water gets inside the intercooler (i dont know maybe something might happen) just needed the advice, and i wont be afraid to spray the suby this week. Thanlks a bunch.

No -- water will not get inside the intercooler and you can't flood it. It's a closed system much in the same way a water radiator is. If water could get in then pressurized air from the turbo would get out.

The newer STis even come with an intercooler water sprayer to keep it cool while driving. Just press the button and it sprays water right on to the intercooler..

Water will just flow right through and over the fins and out on to the ground. No problem at all.

lol this is funny i usually like to spray alittle bit water into the scoop in my sti hehe , hey when you drive it you better not cover your scoop
