Well I knew going into it that the M/Ts were weak cause I had just moved back from Japan where I got a good first hand look at them. Then I bought the RS A/T car and added the turbo kit. Never had a problem with it. The BS traffic and stop and go driving also make a M/T a PITA in that area.

Get yourself a rebuild going and use some lower compression pistons and better rods. That or get a Legacy DOHC 2.2L closed deck turbo motor. Slap your EJ25 heads on it and the T3/T4 and your set.

Yes the 5spd M/T sure seem to be.
