f-u sac county

stupid county workers on strike are really starting to irritate me. i have to drive past these whiny *******s every day on the way to work when they should be driving around in their big green trucks picking up my trash.

i just saw on the news that the county will let me dump my trash for free! all i have to do is figure out how to load my marked county provided trash cans into my vehicle, drive out to the kiefer landfill (before they reach their limit), and they're only doing this from 3pm till closing.

**** them. i'm paying a reduced payment based on weeks of service missed.

Here is a link to a site about getting credit for the weeks with no service. Online petition in upper left corner.

Ok, so who wants to drive by the picket lines in a green garbage truck pretending like your doing their job?

When the angry mob attacks we'll have snipers on the roof silently taking them out to set an example.

Ok I don't hate unions. backing away from the keyboard.

lol..... does anyone even know what the strike is about?

all I have heard is something about medical benefits going up for families, and something about a 10% yearly raise....

I'm all for the raise of course, but i don't give a crap when it comes to family medical crap, I mean i'm not having a family!

LIVING IN EL DORADO COUNTY ROCKS!

from what i understand, they were being asked to contribute to their own madical benefits rather than having them fully paid for.

having only worked private sector, and always having to contribute a bit to my medical benefits, i say tough beans. they still get better retirement, better vacation schedules, better cost of living increases, etc...

just pick up my DAMN TRASH! we requested a second can before we started working on the house, and i'm darn glad i didn't cancel it yet. both are full and the county is going to skip pickup # 2 for my neighborhood tomorrow

that, in essence is what the strike is all about. plus they want bigger raises, which if you look at the pay scales for many of the county jobs, i don't blame them.

and just in case anyone's curious, it's not only the garbage workers that are on strike. it's also clerical staff, and just about every other maintenance division that you can think of.

yes, but the clerical staff striking doesn't have a direct impact on the lovely view i see from my front window or drive home from work. trash bags all along the sidewalks, overflowing trash cans. it's absolutely lovely.

as far as their "demands", it's still lame. in the private sector, employee's get ****ed out of pensions, increased medical costs, reduced merit increases, and other things when the economy is poor. i'm sorry, but government employee's get coddled like no other.

i know some local govt employee's (not sac county) and some of the benefits they get astonish me. if i took no medical benefits in the private sector, i would get to cash out a grand a year. they doen't take thiers, get to cash out close to 10k. i get 20 personal days per year that have taken years to earn, they get almost 30 vacation / sick days plus holidays right off the bat.

yes, i know i sound selfish, an i AM being selfish. i pay an organization for a service. they are not providing that service. they aren't even making an attempt to. there's no mention of refunds for billing, the "free" dump access sucks ***** and is inconvenient for anyone with a 9-5 job.

1 week so far, week 2 starts tomorrow.

the problem is the backlog in trash pickups. they will resume their regular schedule when the strike is over. so if they miss my neighborhood tomorrow, it'll be another week.
