What are the different gear ratios used by model, year and transmission used. I know I've wondered about those when looking for a used LSD before.

Oh and how about that old link we used to have for the online tire size guide. Where you could enter in your old size and the new size you want to run and it would tell you how close it is to stock by percentages.

Why does my transmission get stuck in second gear when I aggressively ascent twisty canyon roads?

I'm actually being serious here...

How to properly launch your car without breaking the tranny.

Why attempting AWD burnouts is NOT a good idea.

Might also want to post a link to Mike Shields' site, he has a good article on shifting. http://www.spdusa.com/shifting.htm

Please post what you think is a FAQ."I'm content with my stock WRX's mid-14 second E.T.s. Do I need to upgrade to the 6MT, or is this overkill? Does the greater rotational mass inside the 6MT and attending drivetrain power loss negate the advantage of durability potential?"

note: Maybe the above isn't very frequently asked, but I wonder how I can make an informed decision on whether or not to spring the bucks for the swap.

Down Shifting.
Is it hard the engine, transmission, clutch, to down shift? (not necessarily when entering a turn but I know people who say they downshift when breaking to slow there cars for the purpose of "saving their pads.)

what is double clutching?
what tranny oil does the WRC car use? (it's Neo Synthetics BTW)
Why is it hard to shift down into first? (syncros worn out, upgrade fluid and learn to double clutch for the track)
How can I fix the power gap between first and 2nd gear? (upgrade to 6speed, or get a new gear set with 2nd shorter, about 2.00-1 and 1st taller about 3.00-1)

Turbo and High performance Mag has a great WRX tranny section this month!

What are the details of all of the Subaru drivetrains, to include every single Impreza (2.5RS, WRX, JDM STI (all versions), USDM WRX), forester, Legacy, and SVX.

Ratios:
Parts composites (which version's parts are stronger than...):
Parts dimensions (Which parts are shorter/longer than...):

Maybe, who are the best retailers who consistently get engine/drivetrain parts at low cost for i-club members.

If I upgrade my Flywheel, what's a good brand and how will it effect my low speed driving (parking lot speeds) ??

Along with that, what are the effects of differing ratios on speeds, gas mileage, how each optimizes available torque.

Personally, I can read the ratios, but I don't fully understand the differences until I can either drive it or if someone breaks it down for me in language I can understand.

Post a link to this site.
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/gear-ratio.htm
It explains fairly well what gear ratios mean overdrive, direct drive, and gear reduction.

Actually just a link to the site in general might help.

i think there should be some information on 5 speed symptoms and solutions. There are a lot of people having trouble with clutch judder (jerking), syncros (grinding) shifters(short throw vs. stock) bushing mounting upgrades to make the 5 speed better for us out there. what is the best fluids to run ie. tranny brake fluid, rear diff(all with solid result notjust opinions. Also making sure that people know what the factory warrenty 3/36k on everything 6/60k on drivetrain. How to haindle the dealer and make sure that we get what we waint (within reason) cuz we know we all paid a pretty penny for our cars. hope this helps.

Where can you get parts for clutch swaps IE throw out bearing, and alignment tool when not included in kits such as ACT or SPEC.
Are they OEM parts or specific to each clutch setup?

What clutch/flywheel do I need for _______ engine swap...
What clutch/flywheel do I need for _______ trans swap...

*The unconfirmed answer I have found*

two basic clutch arrangements
push clutch/pull clutch

one for turbo imprezas one for non-turbo (cant remember which)

you cannot mix non-turbo clutches and flywheels with turbo transmissions. So match Flywheel and clutch with transmission..

This is all unconfirmed because I have not personally done any of this and I have only found one source so far supporting it.
