Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

VF-39, pretty sure it's a direct bolt on. Pretty popular upgrade for the WRX.

yes, its a direct bolt on. You will however need a CobbAP, Ecutek reflash, UTEC or other EM along with larger injectors(& a fuel pump) to run it safely.

Is the upgrade relitively safe? Can the stock block handle this turbo for a awhile or will you be hurting the motor and have to fix it in a year? (under the conditions on normal driving with "getting on it" ever once in a while)

dont forget to upgrade the intercooler, fuel pump, injectors, and then reflash it.

depends on WHO is tuning. Just about any turbo can be safe or unsafe, it ALL depends on WHO is tuning.

short answer: yes, you'll be safe.

I ran a VF30(very similar to the VF39 but with a 'bit' more topend) for around 20k miles. I'm now running a TD05H-20G which is quite a bit larger than the VF39, I've been running it for over 20k-25k miles along with alcohol injection on a pretty aggressive tune(326whp/292wtq @ 21psi), I'm still safe considering my engine has ~85k miles on it.
