I bought a CPO 02 WRX Wagon from a dealer in Texas before I got it home the boost was surging pretty bad. The car has now been to the shop 4 different periods. (11 full days)
They have replaced the up and downpipe (both clogged) and have decarbonized the motor (did nothing). The District service manager (DSM) is involved but the dealership is now dropping the ball.
It seems as if my car has little gremlins in it!! No CEL, nothing funny at all until you hold the pedal down and ask for constant boost and then it seems as though the wastegate just can't hold it. Just rising boost then release, over and over again. More if your only half on the gas. The tech has supposed checked everything over and now the DSM has told them to find another car (which they don't have) and start swapping parts. Which they had the nerve to ask me to do with some of my buddies!! can you believe a dealership asking somebody to swap parts myself!!!!
What would you guys do?? Take the car to a different dealer or use the fact that I have a open case with S of A and lean on the dealership?? I like these guys, they've been cool for the most part and we are all frustrated with the car. It just seems like they are tired of dealing with it; especially since it all warrantied, and are just ready to give up on it.
Any input is very much appreciated!!
I've been driving it since the end of February this way it just keeps pissing me off especially since I owned a different 2002 and it ran great.

another question has anybody had any luck actually talking with the mechanic?? The dealership has these service advisors and I haven't even seen the mechanic.

That is bad.
Now the dealership you are working with is not the strongest link in the chain... BUT, the SOA tech would probably be the same anywhere in mid-southern Oregon.
I am a salesman at Southern Oregon Subaru (Medford) and the service guys have been great working with my car (at least some of them there 20+ years). I would HIGHLY recommend giving S.O.S a try before you give up. But, seldom at any dealership do you speak with the mechanics.
BUT, you and I could talk to them... and pick their brain.
Plus you can say hi to me when you drop by!

Its not very close, but when I bought my car and had a few things done to it Wentworth Subaru (in PDX) was pretty good, the people treated me well and knew what they were doing.
IMHO (been a while since I've been there)
