My dad called me saying he had parked his brand new car (literally, 38 miles on the thing) under a tree, and came out after playing golf and noticed there was nasty tree sap all over it.

I think I've heard of other people here with this problem, so I was wondering if anyone knows what he can use to get that crap off without messin up the paint.

Thanks!

if the tree sap is still fresh on the car u can get away with a wash and wax. when i first got my car the same thing happened. the next day i got it washed and waxed and it was new again

butter (i cant remember if it was real butter or margerine (sp?)) or mayo, at least it took sap off my hands when I was a kid!!!

Bug and tar remover only works on very mild tree droppings. What I would highly, highly recommend is using rubbing alcohol. Yes, that's right. I never thought of the idea but I called a body shop a year or so ago and that's what they told me. I usually rub it with a cotton swab but you might need a rag if you have alot of sap. Rubbing alcohol literally dissolves the sap. Pretty neat trick...try it!

all purpose solvent works no matter how much or how old the tree sap is, it feels like it melts the sap right off

So, I was at my parents for the weekend, and I drove my sooby up, and apparently there was a small dot of pitch on my wing, well, my dad decides to clean it off for me. Unbeknownst to me.....he proceeds to use some gojo hand cleaner or something similar, containing pumice. pumice>paint So, yeah, I have this big cloudy spot on my JBP wing now :-(, the pumice just pwned the paint. lame. :-/

get your car really drunk then drive it into the Petaluma river, then drag it out and dress it in pajamas.

I use PrepSol, then claybar with Dish soap as the lubricant, then seal, and wax. The next time around the sap will come off with a simple bath, probably one of the reasons I'm a Zaino Ho.
