Ok so I've been wondering how much HP my motor is pulling and someone has told me of a place that will dyno my car for me for a cheap price. SInce I have an auto I will be doing the fuse trick to put it in front wheel drive. That still sucks since I will only have FWD numbers not AWD numbers.
So does anyone know how much of a drivetrain lose there is in FWD automatics?
I'm guessing that I might be close to 180-190 HP at the crank but not sure though.

WHat have you done to your car?

What mods?. For drivetrain loss, it does vary, car to car, but I'd say 25% is a close number.
FWIW, engine HP means squat, it all come down to what is at the wheel.

Well what I have done far a motor works is:
Intake, cone filter on throttle body
3in Catback with 3in straight through Dynamax muffler(losing performance with this but will help when I go turbo)
TCII
Fields Hyper SFC, will need to tune this when do the dyno runs
Polished Throttle body
Some other stuff
Little higher gap on spark plug
Hotter plug(need to switch back though.

I think 180 at the wheel would be a littile high, but best of luck to you, prove me wrong. You have to step up to the plate every once to see where you stand.

He said at the Crank.

A dyno will measure at the wheels, so I would say maybe 120-125 at the wheels.

I wish I could pull 180 to the wheels now. But I meant 180 at the crank. Yeah I do think I will pull about 120-130 to the wheels though. We will see though. I might be waiting off though till January when a friend of mine will get there shop opened back up and they will have an AWD dyno. They said the will let me be the first to run and will let me do it for free. So I think I will wait then.

You really haven't done much to improve power. I'd say 180hp at the crank is optimistic. As for what it will put to the wheels, well, that entirely depends on the type of dyno.
Any idea what type of AWD dyno your buddy's shop is installing?

If you can tune the S-AFC before or during your dyno runs, you should be at 180 hp crank.

I would be real suprised if he hit 180.
I had Borla Headers, 2 1/2" to the resonator (no cats) and mandrel bent 2 1/4 to the tail with a SS stromung dual tip. Underdrive pulley, K&N, PDM intake and Magnecor wires. I would be suprised if I was at 185 with that stuff. I was doing 15.5 in the quarter @ 85.8MPH here in hawaii (HORRIBLE track)
However, I installed some COBB Cams today and a lightened flywheel last week so I'm pretty sure the 200hp mark (and 15.0) is real close now.

Merc (from the other club) put down 146hp with an AEM intake, Borla header and a 5Zigen exhaust .....

hmm.. i was about to make a thread in the transmission forum about 4EATS and awd dynojets... I just got my car dynoed today and it was on 4 wheels. when they got it rolling, the rears would barely move while the fronts are going full speed (damn 90/10 split) so couldn't get accurate readings. so i tried putting in the fuse so it will be FWD and got better readings :D. i was wondering if everyone else thats auto did this and if this is ok to do. during the dyno run while FWD was on, the ABS light turned on and stayed on. it turned off after a couple feet after i left.
btw heres what i got. i heard everyone else thats still NA and almost stock would get around 90-110 whp, so i guess i'm doing good. but then i did FWD dyno so.... it might not be the same.
my mods are: GanzFlow cai, modified stock airbox (dremeled elbow tube and cut fins inside), stomung dual-tip muffler and 2.25" midpipe.
