i dont knwo if the rattling noise in my car is my suspension or not, i brought it into subaru and had them checked up, and they told me it might be the rear differential, they checked it, and nothing was wrong with it, what is the problem do you guys think? thanks

I think even the suspension gurus would need more specifics.....

My only suggestion is to tighten all the bolts on the strut and strut top... If that doesnt work, take the whole assembly off and reinstall it...

My g/f's '00 RS has the same symptoms. Sounds like the right rear is loose. I've been meaning to take it apart and reinstall it, but I think I'm just going to wait until I replace the struts which will happen really soon.

I might have the answer, but it will involve a bit of labor.
I had a low-speed, rough surface clunking from my right rear strut (STi V7 struts on a WRX wagon). Checked all the fittings, and they were tight. Pulled the strut, and it turned out that somehow, the strut top (STi) was jammed just a bit too far down on the strut rod, so the whole setup wasn't releasing as it was supposed to.
I shimmed the strut top in question with a 1/4" spacer under the strut top and voila, quiet car again.
This might not be the answer for everyone, but two people that I know of have found the shim to be the answer. Why the strut top jams is a mystery and further, why it jams on one corner is a mystery.

I think I have the same knocking noise coming from the right front and the right rear. I think the reason for the noise is that the lock bolt that attaches the top strut mount to my Tein Wagon coilovers is loose.
Since this is a locknut, I'm wondering if they should have been replaced instead of reused at the time I installed the Tein Wagon coilovers.
Also, this bolt is tough to get on tight because you have to hold the shaft of the coilover with your hands to tighten.
Does anyone know if new STI or other brand top mounts will be better than the stock top mounts?
Or, is will changing to new locknuts and getting a better grip of the shaft for tightening the best solution...

I second that. When I got my car back from the body shop for a couple of months I didnt hear a thing but it started to squeak and It was a bolt that was just about to fall out. The control arms were totally moving around causing the squeaking
