want to swap 98-01 2.5 RS bugeye front bumper to 1994 SVX. Want to make sure I get proper front bugeye bumper. What do I need to know to look for bumper I want. Also do I need to replace bumper beam if I use USDM or aftermarket fog lights. If I use OEM JDM foglights I believe I will need to change bumper beam.

You mean, a bugeye (02-03) bumper retrofitted to an RS (98-01)?

yes that's what I am thinking of doing. I'm going to follow up with andvic since his bumper is exactly what I'm looking for.

 

I guess, anything can be done if one really wants it. What material would you be using to extend the sides though? IIRC, the sides on the SVX's front bumper are way longer than the newer Impreza model years.

 

I really doubt it will work, since the SVX was wider than the Impreza. But if you can make it work, that would be sweet.

 

I don't know if it will work, It's an idea I have had for a while. The fog lights on the SVX are useless and I need a new front bumper cuz of a slight accident. Since I'm getting money from the insurance company, I thought this may be the time to try this. I need to know more such as pointed out that the sides on the SVX are longer and the SVX may be wider. A member of the SVXnet had place an outback front bumper on the SVX and it was okey but that bumper is not as nice as the bugeye bumper, I think it will lokk great and give me more light but it may not be feasible.

 

I have a 2.5rs bumper that I could take measurements from, if that would help anything. Let me know.

 

It would help if you could give me the width of the bumper cover and the height and the length of the side from the front to the wheel well.

What it looks like is they cut it in half and then put some fiberglass work in the middle to widen it, from what I can tell.

 

And that's not an OE bumper skin.

 

he's correct, actually I was wrong, it isnt a stock bumper, that could be, and most likely is an aftermarket bumper for the the SVX

 

It's definetly not an SVX bumper. The guy that owns is in Lebanon and siad that he made the bumper using fiberglass. I've PM"d him about what he started from and what he did but he hasn't responded yet. I thought he started with a 99RS bumper (Iwas confused with the bugeye nomenclature. I thought it referred to the lower fog lights not the headlights). I'll give more info when he gets back to me.
