Does anyone have any experience with this kit. It seems a bit pricey ($4,400) but it claims to increase horsepower by 75%. With a stock 2000 RS i think it would make around 290hp. Any comments?

I think someone should raise the BS flag on 288hp @ 6psi. I simply dont think its possible without higher boost pressure. If they claimed 260 something Id believe it, but Somehow I doubt it. (Maybe the dynoed on race gas after icing the IC or something?)

If its $4400 then I'm assuming it comes with some standalone engine management. The numbers do seem to be inflated but that could be said about alot of companies out there. I'd like to see some dyno proof by an unbiased shop to back up their claims.

while whp to bhp conversion is in doubt, 202 awhp aint too bad. ;)

I've known Larry for a while now from the Subaru world so I'd give him the benifit of the doubt.

With a Garrett ball bearing turbo making boost in the teens and the pre-programmed Link ECU the SPO/AVS turbo kit offered by SPO Motorsports and Rallitek is the first turbo kit that has really caught my eye. For what you get is didn't seem outrageously expensive. I'd like to see some opinions on it from the aftermarket experts on this board...................................Doug

I've got no opinion of it cause I haven't actually seen it and haven't seen any dyno sheets on cars with the kits.

I dont doubt the 202 whp. Just the whp to crank conversion. There is a great deal of confusion on how it really works. Generally if you take the whp observed stock and the whp observed turbo'd and use that percentage change to multiple the stock HP by to get turbo'd crank HP you get inflated numbers.

-The avo kit they claim a 75% increse in power. Thats WHP of cource, but they apply it to the stock bhp number. Using the whp for stock cars from various dynos it could make anywhere from 171 to 227 whp. Devide those two extremes and look. You get about the HP Larry's kit puts down.

I'm looking more for thoughts on the hardware that comes with the kit (ie: turbo, internal wastegate, piping.....etc), and the fact they say it starts boost at 1500 rpm. That's what really caught my attention. (I'm trying to learn what to look/look out for)...Doug

You can see the onset of 1-2 psi that low down in 3rd or 4th gear up a 6% grade hill with many kits, including ours.

Ours makes 6 psi by 2600 in lower gears without an uphill load on the motor . Mine on my car makes 15 psi by 3,000 rpm in 3rd gear on flat ground with the optional catless 3 inch twin dump downpipe.

have you done any work to your Engine internals (cams, pistons, etc.) or are you still running stock w/ your Turbo Kit?

and what is your PSI settings do you usuallly set it on?

15psi sounds kinda high on your torquey engines...

The AVO kit uses a plug in Link ECU piggyback. I'm sure their extra power has to do with tuning.

does anyone know the size/trim of the turbo avo uses in their kits? i know about anyone else..... but i don't see fast spool up as a good thing. if it really does spool up in the teens then i would think the turbo is far undersized........
