From the sounds of it, and from the fact that I've never done it before, the Mosquito Ridge route sounds like the best idea. We will have experienced drivers in the group, and maybe we can get a little further than the last Donner party that attempted it. We will MEET AT 7:00AM AT THE 76 GAS STATION on the corner of Folsom-Auburn Rd. and Greenback Lane, just across the street from the new bridge in Folsom. For those of you trying to get there from 80, take Madison Ave. South all the way down past Negro Bar State Park and the station will be on your left, and those on 50 take the Folsom Blvd. exit and go left if your coming East on 50 and the station will be on your left as you cross the bridge.

The route for the day will be: Meeting place -> salmon falls rd. -> hwy 49 -> old foresthill rd -> foresthill rd -> mosquito ridge rd (Thanks to Matt)

Well, I've never done Mosquito Ridge, so that sounds like fun. Though I've driven on some roads South of 50, I don't really know that area as well as I should.

I guess some of the snow might be melting, although we are hitting and extremely harsh cold front. I'm down for anywhere, I just need to get away for a change!

With that said, and the fact that I think some people have yet to go up Mosquito Ridge (myself included), I'm thinking that's where we should go. Its also a little safer, since some people in the group will know how to drive the road because they've done it before, and others can follow suit, hopefully.

Yeah depends on how much this weekends storm drops. We got about 18 miles in last month. Either way, still a blast of a drive and the snow covered road is awesome once you get there ;)

depending on conditions, I will go. If it is snowing really good, I will just be up at Tahoe though :-P

well, for starters, I didn't preload my springs so there was a huge gap on my shock, everytime I hit a bump, the whole car would slam down, I'm lucky the coilovers didn't blow out...all fixed now, just not as low :(

Well I'm concerned about one of my tires... I just had it repaired friday, upped the pressue to my usual 40psi, and checked it again today and it was down to 28psi... Ill check tonight and see if it drops again, if it does I might not be able to make it out.

We could put them on at the gas station b4 we head out. But I think you'll be ok on the drive, I for one won't be going as hard as the more experienced people, I'm just going along for the drive...

I put the PSI in the tire thats leaking at 41psi at 12pm this afternoon... I just checked it, at 8:30 and its down to 33psi :eek:

I dont think I should go, I'd loose probaby 5-10 psi during the amount of time we would be driving... Thats just scary.

I took it to Americas Tire for a repair on friday, they said there werent any issues with the tire that they could find (it was leaking before, but not this bad... like 5 psi over 2 weeks) and they redid the valve and reset the tire, and now its worse. So no, there are no nails or anything.

Anyway, I checked my tire pressure at 5am and it was another 6psi lower... So I said screw it and went back to bed :( I've been spending all day dealing with the tire too, the tire shop said buy new tires and I said how since I don't have the money yet, so I just got some of that green slime stuff and put it in... But it exploded when I unpluged it cause of the pressure and sprayed green slime all over my car :rotfl: :( So, I spend another hour cleaning that up... Sucky day, I might go for a drive on friday if I'm bored.
