I've been wanting to put the HID lights on my car but I am not sure if can just buy the bulbs and plug them in. or do I have to buy the $300 something conversion kit for the bulbs to work. let me know

I think the HID bulbs need ballasts in order to operate. That's usually included in the $300 kit.

The best option for your car is to get a set of the OEM STi HID lights. Yes they are expensive but if you keep an eye on the classifieds, Ebay etc. they sometimes turn up used for much less than new prices. It is possible to put retrofit HIDs in your existing lights but since they were not designed for HIDs originally the results are not anywhere near as good as with the STi lights, and there will be a lot of glare to oncoming traffic.

I just got an email from subaru saying the sti headlights are 700 each. thats way too much money for headlights. and I forgot to say i had an 05 wrx.

Unfortunately that is just the HID components from a set of STi lights, and not the complete assemblies. You can't just "stick" that stuff into your WRX lights and get the same results regardless of what the auction says. The light housings and bulb mounting are different between the HIDs and halogens.

Your link doesn't work any more. Without the housings those components won't be much use on a set of halogen lights, you need the whole thing. The mounting setup for the D2R HID bulbs is totally different from the H1 halogens, and the reflector designs aren't the same either although at first glance they look similar. The different reflector design is the reason that aftermarket kits using rebased HID bulbs do not produce the same lighting performance as the OEM HID lights, and why the retrofits glare into oncoming traffic.

Wow, those bulbs are just total crap. If anyone wants truly upgraded low beam bulbs for an 04/05, the choices are Osram Silverstars, Narva Rangepower, Phillips Hi-Visibility, and perhaps a few others. These are stock wattage (55W) "+50" type bulbs that generate more usable light and do NOT have a blue coating.

If those are total crap then what are the stock bulbs... my point was they shined blue, which is the look he WAS looking for. No assembly, no housing, no $500 creditcard bill.
