i cant believe how gay statman and all who supported his ratting on of the n00b that blew his #3 piston with stupid mods. altruistic honesty only has a place in heaven. seriously wtf statman have you ever done anything illegal or wrong in anyway? did you get away with it, if you say yes you don't deserve a car with a turbo. i dont support the kids stupidity but everyone has made mistakes and gotten away with em. and no matter what you say about truth and honesty and karma the fact of the matter is SOA is ripping all of us off, every car company is. FIGHT THE MAN!

I have no clue what this is about, but me too, I do not like when people blow their motors or break anything on their cars due to their deeds and expect warranty. That negatively affects EVERYONE and those who's stuff really breaks due to production mistakes.

Ok, I read the thread. He got what he deserved. Not only do dealers read this board everyday, the SOA themselves read it too.

The attitude with which he was ranting here about his own stupid mistakes, contributed to his warranty denial. Its nobodys fault but his own.

People need to be responsible.

Just read this post from another forum, I agree that it was kind of stupid on his end for not being responsible, but the dick that fowarded the e-mail was truly a b.itch move.

*I'm pretty sure that scatman, didn't receive a big check from SOA for his heroic efforts, but anywho. He'll get whats coming to him, and I hope real soon. I'm not one who wishes bad things against people, but I hate snitches.

Ok, I agree the kid was naughty.

ASIDE from that if S.O.A reads these boards......Surely they can see there are some LEGITIMATE complaints?

Are they giving THOSE the same FERVOR?

on a flip side.....so how come everybody doesn't ban together when a legitamate warranty claim is denied? i have never seen, on this or any other subaru message board where a group of people banned together to help someon cuz they were wrongfully denied a warranty claim.......how many threads where someone is *****in' about being turn down for a warranty claim gets forwarded to all the subaru dealer in that state and to SoA?

tad
03-12-2003, 05:52 PM
That would be great if we could all get together when we are being denied legitimate warrranty claims for things that do go wrong under warrantied cars. maybe a place to discuss warranty claims would be a good place to have on I-club

Imprezer
03-12-2003, 05:53 PM
The reasons legit warranty claims get denied, is becuase of people that mod the car, screw it up, put it to stock spec and ask for warranty. Some do it very careful, and dealers cannot tell if in fact it was modified.

This is not "what came first, chicken or an egg" problem. SOA has always been very good with warranty until WRX came out and bunch of liars screwed it all up for everyone.

tad
03-12-2003, 09:58 PM
That is too bad for us who are careful and mod wisely, and with knowledge. I am personally not doing any mods that will void my warranty.

the kid that blew his motor is a dumbass and the way he came here to a PUBLIC message board and starting talking trash about how he screwed SOA. yeah he got what he deserves...it's called karma! now as far as the other guy narcing, not cool really, BUT there was an email somewhere in that post from a subaru dealer stating they weren't going to warranty the car regardless of the forwarded email from here.

Don't like rats but I think the immature prick got what he deserved IMO. Keep us posted on what happens to him. On another note, I heard rumors that SOA actually has a list of aftermarket parts that won't void the warranty (stress "rumors"). Can anybody verify this? If this is true, then is it possible to contact SOA before getting/installing parts to see if those parts void the warranty?

Helping another person to be honest is a good thing even if it costs. I personally would not have had the cajones to turn the guy in though. So it all comes down to personal integrity to do the right thing for the right reasons. I hope the kid that made his mistakes learned his lesson and realizes the value of being accountable and doesnt stay bitter.

Henry

He may seem like one, but in reality he's just protecting his own interests. Subaru pays to repair a car under waranty, but who pays for subaru? It's customers! The money they pay for illegitimate waranty claims goes right into the cost of the car. It forces subaru to either raise their prices or take cost-cutting measures to offset their losses. Which means with this kind of thing going on, subaru's customers bank roll the expense.

There is no victimless crime.

that is too funny that kid ot what he deserved, I am not one for snitching but you know what if someone fet that strongly about it then go right ahead. I personally think that in a way the WRX is a bad thing because a lot of people are turning the subaru community (niche, tight knit, etc. ) into the DSM world. I have heard stories from friends about people getting jacked at meets and all types of other probelms and frankly I see things going that way. In So Cal people used to wave or stop and talk about cars etc. now I don't even look at other WRX drivers I had one start getting all aggro because I asked if he was on the boards. his response was (I will abbreviate for space sake) "you want to race" "your car sucks" and my favorite "I am going to kick your ass" sometimes people you have to police your own. Consider this hopefully one less idiot to deal with.

Amen, I agree with the above. Lets try and act a little more like our age and not our shoe size. The kid screwed up, and I dont agree with his actions of trying to get the work covered under warranty. Scatman shouldn't have ratted on him either, IMO, he may have caused more denials of warranty work through pointing out this board to various dealerships . I know of people getting denied warranty work due to what they posted about race times on websites and whatnot.

I like this board because of the maturity level and thoughtful insight/intelligence that can normally be found here. I hope it continues.

man some peoples kids! I realy dont know what to think about the whole thing. The kids ganna blow his new engine, think thats clear, and as far as the waranty goes heres my thoughts. Its all pretty simple IF YOU MOD YOUR CAR TOU LOSE YOUR WARANTY!! Now I know thats not always the case, but its a good rule of thumb. Thats the risk we all run. You change the boost, put on a new ecu, new turbo, any thing that changes the way the engine runs and you void the waranty on that engine. Now you put on a mbc and your a/c gos out thats a diffrent story, but you still might be coverd. I mean damn the sti muffler you can get from subaru has a disclamer about how it may void your waranty. just my tc

I cant believe whats going on here. Statsman is really messed up. I cant BELIEVE he did that to a fellow WRX owner. That kid made the mistake of tuning his car the wrong way and coming on to this board asking for help. How could you RAT on him like that? You people act like lying to the dealer is a horrible crime. You act like the STEALER is always honest with you and doesnt try and scam you all. THEY DO! Plus you are all hypocrats cause if you were in his shoes you would want to be covered under warranty as well. Trying to look all high and mighty by turning him in. YOU ARE A RAT, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A RAT.

A friend of mine will be a WRX owner soon and I WARNED him about this forum and told him NOT to post anything here when he gets his car.

You guys all suck.

Agreed. Unbelievable what some of you guys do on here.

The kid made a mistake, no doubt, but what's a damn engine to SOA? Let SOA pay for it, he paid for it up front when he got the car anyway. Dealers = stealers, cars = profit margin, a EJ20 to SOA = jack shït. In addition to that, if the car had been fast in the first place, he wouldnt have had to try and tune it.

Yeah, whats the cost of parts and labor for one car? Oh wait, what about the next schmuck that does it. And the next, so on and so on. . .

Let SOA pay for it, he paid for it up front when he got the car anyway.
No, dont let SOA pay for it. The kid f*cked up his engine on his own. Warranties are there to cover defects from the factory, not the general publics idiocy. Not only did he grenade his engine, he posted about it on a public forum. Then he admitted his own attempts to defraud multiple dealers. And yes, he did pay for the engine when he bought the car. He paid for the one he grenaded. SOA is under no obligation to replace it for him.

In addition to that, if the car had been fast in the first place, he wouldnt have had to try and tune it.
Bwahahahahahahahaha! Thats funny! How many auto enthusiasts do you know say that their "stock" car is fast enough for them, and they dont need to do anything to it. Note I said enthusiasts, not just your average consumer. Fact is, I could drive a top fuel dragster and I would still be doing stuff to it to make it faster.

First I would like to say that I think the WRX is a dead sexy machine, with the balls to back it up. If I could afford one, then I'd probably be driving one.

Secondly I would like to say that I'm a Honda guy. yes yes yes, I know. I'm evil.

Someone sent me the link to the previous thread, and i had to add my 2 cents. All I really had wanted to say was "THANK GOD"! Up until this point I never thought of WRX drivers as dumb kids (which most of your are not), I had a certain respect for WRX drivers. Driver's of WRXs didn't have punk kids to make them look bad as me and my fellow Civic drivers have, and which a few of you have pointed out. But now, finally.. When I see a young kid in a WRX I can finally say "Damn WRX driver", much like how you guys say the same thing when you see a young kid in a civic.

I know most of you are not punk kids, and not *******s, but now I have just as much right to say it as any of you.

Thirdly, would you guys stop arguing with yourselves. Yes yes yes, the WRX2fast4u was moron, and an *******, and he will get what he deserves. If you're going to own an expensive car, and then screw around with it, you better have the cash to fix it. It's sorta like BMW driver's that get pissed off to find out it'll cost $1k to replace their exhaust with factory BMW parts. As for staty, I'm rather sure what he did was out of pure annoyence and anger. If I was a WRX owner, I know I would have been tempted to do the exact same thing. I don't know if I would have actually done it, but email makes stuff like that realllly easy.

I don't know who said it, but he/she was right when he said that when a person screws with his motor, blows it, and then defrauds subaru into paying for a new one, all subaru driver's pay for it. The money for that motor is not going to be coming out of some rich person's pocket at Subaru. It's coming out of yours, or another new subaru customer.

Lastly, thank god I drive a cheap ass '91 civic. I don't have to be as paranoid as some of you are about tunning (which is understandable). Personally I can blow a motor and save up some cash and easily buy a new one.

Anyway, be nice guys.

Damn domestic drivers.

The 90hp motor was in the DX hatchback, in the SI was a 103-106 hp 1.6 SOHC motor. I don't have either of those motors in my car. Secondly it's not a briggs and straton, it's a General Electric sewing machine! Get it RIGHT!

This is a quote from another thread, just trying to keep the threads combined.

"I was forwarded that "Major Engine Problem!!!" thread, by a friend of mine that owns a WRX but is getting rid of it for a real man's car (03 Cobra). Some of you guys are major F' Heads for turning that guy into the local Seattle dealerships, because he managed to get his car covered under warranty. Most of you would do the same thing.

First off, that WRX you guys love IS THE FUNNIEST LOOKING CAR I'VE SEEN IN A LONG LONG TIME! I laughed at my buddy for getting one, but he's thankfully seen the light and bought himself a new Cobra. You freaking rice burners would have done the same thing in getting your car covered under warranty. Most of you morons are probably kids in the first place and can't afford to get a new engine on the money you make flipping burgers at McDonald's.

I hope someone pays you back for your actions!!!!"

I think the kid is a dumbass and if he didn't get caught for this, he would have been caught doing something else stupid. It's not smart to report crimes you've commited in public forums such as this where anybody could be reading including SOA. I'm not saying I would have turned the kid in but, IMO, once he hit the "Submit" botton, it was fair game. He rolled the die and lost. I guarantee he will never make that mistake again, nor will I. So in that regards, thank you, wrx2fast4u. Also, thank you for the entertainment (I'm sure I speak for others). This scandal is spreading into other forums like an epidemic, and they aren't even Subaru related! This guy is a freakin star. Soon he will join the ranks of Tonya Harding, O.J. Hi all, I’m a Subaru enthusiast from o/s & drive a 99 sti V5.

This thread has been posted on many forums in my country as a joke at how your forum treats other members. I was under the impression that forums like this were places for like minded people to seek help & meet people… guess you guys are a little different over there hu.

The dude came to you guys after help, yeah he was wrong to up the boost. But he took the car to a workshop he didn’t do it himself. He admitted he didn’t know everything about modding cars… and you guys took pleasure in his misery, to be honest you all make me sick!

Statman is a complete & utter f#ucken wanker. As if anyone on here wouldn’t try to pull the old “I only drive it to church on Sundays” routine. I wouldn’t even give it half a thought I would have had the f#cker towed down there the second I’d pulled all the **** off it. The choice between forking out 6k or a few white lies an’t no choice at all.

Your all trying to justify screwing the poor guy over by saying poor Subaru… F%ck Subaru!!! The dealers get reimbursed so it doesn’t affect them & I’m sure a new motor to Subaru is like a drop in the ocean. Maybe I’m short on morals as I don’t think twice about the pay tv that I steal (don’t rat me out now statman) or the cd’s that I burn. But I can guarantee that there isn’t a member on here that hasn’t at least ripped a cd. Ripping a cd is directly robbing an artist.. so everyone should get off their high fricken moral horses.

As for Statman I would love to slap that C%nt down! When I read that thread it nearly made my blood boil to see a rex owner screw a fellow owner like that . He’s scum no two ways about it!

But as the saying goes "only in America"

Appreciate your time.

Do you know how many e-mails I get from people that haven't done ANYTHING to the car but yet got their warranty denied? You have no idea. Once again, the reason being, is because people pull trick with Subaru and make them pay. Sure, it is ok for Subaru to pay, I guess, but what about those people whose cars really broke down and THEY HAD TO PAY TO FIX IT.

How come noone feels sorry for them?

In all honesty, I feel bad for the guy. However, he brought it upon himself. He admitted he was doing something wrong and pretty much told Subaru to F-OFF BEFORE he got his car fixed. I mean, come on, of course this will get to them.

We have people that work for dealers read this. We have dealers read this. We have Subaru read this.

Why is it that difficult to understand?

Here is my example. My car is very much modified. The window switch broke and I got my warranty denied. For a freaking window switch. I have not touched the door. My mods have nothing to do with the switch. Yet, Subaru said no. I did not blame them. I blamed those, who ABUSED Subaru's warranty policy and took advantage of them.

Yes, Subaru has enough $ to pay. Hell, they car just make a huge fire and throw 30 cars in it just for fun and not hurt financially about it.

But, all those tricks that other people do, affect us, Subaru customers, that not only get our warranties denied, but also get our whole cars "red flagged" due to a turbo timer.

That is it. End of story.

No more of this please.
