i have not used them in about one year but here is my story. i bought brand new dba long life gold rotors in the front and rear along with ebc green stuff pads. i broke everything in properly so i didn't get glazing. after i was easy on the system for a few weeks i tried testing them out. these pad destroyed my rotors. they tore the up very very fast. i had to take them out and buy new factory pads which were way better, then i had to get the rotors resurfaced. sorry i am just venting on how these suck.

isn't the ebc green stuff made for european rotors? thats what i rememer reading before. also dba recommends using other pads like hawk pads or axxis pads. I currently have Axxis Ultimate pads and just put in DBA longlife slotted rotors. I will see in a couple weeks how they go along together. but I had the axxis on the stock rotors and they are great! if you don't care about dust then these are the ones to get. plus they are cheaper. I got mine from carbotech.

If you are looking for a 'lighter' compound try the Deluxe+, my brother really likes them on his bimmer for street driving and they dust WAY less than the Ultimates. The ultimates can be noisy at times and they do pump out the dust. Small price to pay for good cheap pads though. The Metal Masters seem every bit as adequate with less dust but MORE warm up.

I speak from experience with:
stock pads on 2 pots
Metal Master on stock 2 pots
stock 4 pot pads with 4 pots
ultimates with 4 pots (current config)

Most of the posts I've read show the Green Stuff pad to be very destructive to rotors. Something about poor heat dissipation and hot spots.

Then there's the occasional user that says they work fine. *shrug* :)

yep..the Greens are just not well suited to the Subarus.

Best units we have used that didn't cost an arm and a leg was the Hawk HPS. There are some Pagid offerings too, but they are pricey at almost $200/set...Hawks are under $90.00 per set!

I know when I was at a track day, there was a guy that was runnig one of the EBC pads, I think it was green stuff but I am not sure. He had an Audi TT, and his pads some how snapped in half on one corner, and fell off. That definitely isn't a good thing to happen when road racing.

Guess you guys can ignore my post about the green stuff pads, I don't think I want them on my car. I'll have to research the hawk pads now.

EBC green stuff pads are terrible. They wore out in about 10miles, of mildy agressive driving. They also DESTROYED 2 sets of rotors.

Stay away from them.

I'll assume its a Subaru thing then cause I've used them with other cars and had no issues with them. I'm going to wait until the stock STI pads are worn out before spending the cash to upgrade them. Its not like I'm doing any track events or don't already wash my cars every weekend.

cool. so i am not the only one who wasted their money on that crap. i would have paid 5 times what i did so i wouldn't have to go through the hassle of getting new pads, changing them, resurfacing my rotors, and yelling at the dealership for those crap pads.

I haven't tried Porterfields myself (although I will when I kill the stockers), but the R4S is supposed to be a great street/autox pad. I've only heard good things about them.

COBB tuning sport pads are pretty good. I've had great success with them, and they are cheaper than the crappy ass EBC's. They also grip a lot better.
