Music to my soul...

Thank you!

That certainly makes one's duality rise to the surface. "How am I to reconcile my Subaru, import-loving side with my raw American heavy metal side?"

What's ironic to me is the nature of the domestic vs. import debate. The domestic lovers argument criteria centers around displacement and straight line acceleration and speed, where the imports always resort to hp/liter and 'bring it to da twisties'.

When I see old Trans Am or Can Am footage and when I went to see the SCCA nationals, specifically T1 and T2, it's apparent to me that ANY car can be made into any time of racing platform you desire.

One of these days I'm going to do something crazy like build an 9 second, AWD C4 Corvette with the purpose of rallying or rallyX.:D

One of these days I want to get to the Monterrey Historics or a similar event where they run the old Trans Am cars. It's supposed to be quite a spectacle to hear about 20 or 30 of those babies on track at once - I can only imagine!

And I, too, am one of those confused souls, Pat, who actually appreciates cars regardless of where they come from. I go to the Subaru forums and see the guys all bashing the pony cars ("pony cars can't handle" "rustang" etc etc), and I go to the Mustang websites and see the guys all bashing the imports ("fart can mufflers running 16s in the 1/4" "ricers" etc etc). In actuality, both sides are ignorant of what the other can do.

I actually got a temp job as a security guard at that race back in like 1988 or 89. That's the first time I ever got an idea that I could actually race. I was gonna build my dad's Triumph TR4 into something solid and look around for the vintage races, in the hopes of getting to run it at Laguna Seca.

....however, I will tell you that the Camaros, Mustangs, and Firebirds stole the show for me that day.
