Big thanks to Chris Jones @ Maita Subaru
Back in August, my wife bought me a Prodrive Axle back (oval tip) from a Subaru dealer on the east coast. I used it for a thousand miles or so but just did not like the sound so I pulled it off and was going to sell it. I later found that Prodrive has said that they only recommend the re-designed round tip axle back for the USDM STi because the oval tip design just did not sound right.
I mentioned this to Chris when I was picking up some other parts and he offered to contact Prodrive and see what he could do for me. I got a call about a week later telling me that Prodrive had sent a new rond tip axle back to Maita and that they had authorized an even exchange for the used oval tip based on the condition that the muffler was in (Pix of my muffler were sent to Prodrive).
Chris went over and above on this and really helped me out, and the round tip muffler sounds much better. With the oval tip at WOT you would only hear a rushing air sound and no exhaust note, that is not the case with the round tip muffler.
Maita is also selling new cars with Prodrive extras - they had an 06 wagon when I was there that looked awesome. I took some pix bue because I was an idiot and forgot to adjust the ISO settings from the basketball game I had just shot none of them came out...
