I have two oil changes on my car and both times I was at least two quarts low. I use mobil one and the wire mesh filters. I only have 27k on the car. Does anyone know what might cause this? I have no mods on my car it is completely stock. Do you think the dealerships will hassle me because I have done the oil changes myself or with a lube center instead of them?
there are two options, either your leaking it externally or internally, or your burning it.
is you oil like coffee color with cream? What does your radiation fluid look like? Does anything look wet underneith?

The problem is, you've only done 2 oil changes over a 27k period. I'm pretty sure you are burning oil. It's recommended that you change you're oil once every 3 months or 3,000-5,000 miles.
Sorry, I meant to say that out of the 10 oil changes that I have done the last two is when I noticed the problem. I went to the dealership and they said it was because I was using synthetic and the turbo burns up the syn. oil because it is to "slippery" whatever that means.

Have you used synthetic oil for all your oil changes? Synthetic oil does burn off, not because it's 'slippery', but because it's designed to absorb the heat inside the engine; and since turbocharged engines produce alot of heat, the result is reduced oil levels. Also, flat engines tend to retain alot residue, with the only way to completely remove the residue in flat engines is by doing an engine flush, and since your car is close to 30k miles, there's probably enough residue there to impede engine efficiency, especially if you don't religiously use gas with a detergent such as Chevron (evidence of residue is the cleanliness of your oil after an oil change-if the oil on the dipstick isn't as clean as the oil you put in, then you would probably benefit from an engine flush such as the Bilstein method). This is most likely what is going on with you, and I know this from my experience with my 02 WRX. After ruling out any possibility of leaks, just check your oil level everytime you fill up, and top it of when ever the oil is low, that way, you'll never be lacking quarts when you get an oil change.

i had a problem with oil consumption, i would need to fill about 1/2 qt about every 2500 mi. i switched to m1 5w30 synthetic my first oil change. i since then switched m1 10w30 and it has not consumed oil at all.

How long / how many oil changes have you gone through with the 10w30?
