Go on nasioc and search 'cv boot' and user name 'subenerd'. I would post instructions but nasioc is blocked for me. You should be able to find step by step instructions on how to remove the axle and replace the boot/grease.

I had a ripped CV boot, so I bought a new rubber boot, grease and clips/clamps from subaru for around $40. If you have a shop/dealer do this for you they will tell you that your axle is ruined and you will need a new one (because when the boot is ripped, gravel, rocks, debris can get in without the boot/grease protecting it) New axles cost $400+ labor!! My friends helped me take off the axle and I found it to be in perfect conditon. You just need a tool to reband the boot. It took about 2 hours to remove and re-install. For a quick fix you can stuff some more grease in there and duct tape it together...lol

Now if your car is making loud clicking noises, your axle is probably damaged.

Good Luck
