View Full Version : I got a new spoiler now I have *MOLD* hokusai 09-21-2005, 09:51 PM Well kind of. I got a replica mines spoiler and decided to mold it to my trunk. Here's some pic of the process: hokusai 09-21-2005, 09:52 PM Here , I had to cut away from the spoiler tio make it fit. Since it was a replica, it did not fit evenly. hokusai 09-21-2005, 09:53 PM The molding process. I decided to use double sided tape and JB Weld to hold it in place. I was going to place rivets but decided against drilling into the trunk. hokusai 09-21-2005, 09:54 PM Bondo TIME!!! hokusai 09-21-2005, 09:54 PM more sanding! hokusai 09-21-2005, 09:56 PM After all the sanding, primer application: hokusai 09-21-2005, 09:56 PM More to come. I still need to fill in some tiny holes and more sanding needs to be done. I will be wet sanding the primer tomorrow. huck 09-21-2005, 10:01 PM you da man WRX Rush 09-21-2005, 10:20 PM Do you do body work or is it a hobby ? Looks damn professional to me. I've been working on it everyday since then putting in about 2 hours per day or until the sun goes down. So on average, I would say so far it has been a little less than 10 hours. Today, I just finished the last of the filling of the holes and applied the final coat of primer. Next is to wetsand the coat of primer and it will be ready for painting. I still need to get the paint from my local finishmasters. Till then..... norcalridin 09-23-2005, 02:41 PM Well, I started working on it this Monday after i got off work. NCsticar 09-27-2005, 12:38 PM Any issues with the bondo cracking from opening/closing the trunk? 1reguL8NSTi 09-27-2005, 12:41 PM Very good job man. I'm impressed for sure. How much weight did that add to your trunk. hokusai 09-27-2005, 01:18 PM No cracking yet...hopefully it never will. I never slam my trunk hard. The weight of the trunk has increased slightly, yet noticeably. I dont know by how much. norcalridin 09-28-2005, 09:23 PM what kinda rims you have?? DrD 09-28-2005, 09:28 PM nicely done! hokusai 09-28-2005, 09:29 PM Those are rota revs. They would have been the D2's, but sadly they did not fit. :( huck 10-05-2005, 10:58 AM Teh sexy!!! jwrx 10-06-2005, 01:54 AM yeah, that looks really slick. nice job truWRXtacy 10-19-2005, 06:22 PM if uhave a body shop do it, it'd prob cost an arm and a leg hokusai 10-19-2005, 06:25 PM Thanks for all the comments. I enjoy the look of the trunk each time i look at it now. bpang1 10-19-2005, 08:16 PM I really like it. How come you didn't mold the bottom of it? I guess perhaps no one would've known that there was a wing there. hokusai 10-19-2005, 09:34 PM Thats exactly why i didnt mold the bottom. I like the "edge" that the spoiler gives on the back of the trunk rather than the top. supertek75 11-04-2005, 01:46 PM That's hot. I always wondered what a Mines spoiler would look like molded into place. I still want to see what it would look like if bottom portion was molded into place too to give it the one piece look. Seraph 11-05-2005, 08:08 PM damn ed, thats sexy hokusai 01-25-2006, 12:57 AM Thanks everybody! GotBoost? 01-25-2006, 01:40 PM That's hot.
