Does anyone have some specs on the required oil flow for lubrication of a turbo? Or perhaps some numbers on what the stock WRX/legacy/etc turbo oil flow is?
Thanks for the help

SeveredPerf 11-25-2002, 07:14 PM I'm looking for the volume flowing through the turbo. I am mounting twin turbos on the SVX on the bottom side of the engine, so I need a scavenge pump setup. I'm trying to figure out if I need one or two scavenge pumps to suck the oil back to the topside of the engine. Originally posted by N/A Do you mean the oil pressure or the actual oil volume? Q SeveredPerf 11-26-2002, 09:30 AM Heh..I got one of those too :P Oh what I mean by volume through the turbo is the oil volume, not air volume. Should have made myself a little more clear there  Originally posted by QfactorRS if you send me specs on the turbo i can calculate all that. mechanical engineering degree coming in handy every now and then. Do share them :) paulnose 12-10-2002, 01:05 PM Well according to Mr. MacInnes, a 3 inch turbo would require about 1/2 gallon per minute of oil, and a 3.5-4.0" turbo would require about 1 gallon per minute. Using at least 30psi of oil pressure in both cases. This is for single turbo apps. So my advise to you, shoot for a 1 1/2 gallons/minute and play it safe. -Paul oh yeah: disclaimer: If you blow your motor and turbos it's still nobody's fault but your own. |
