Does this turbo look ok? It is brand new, but looks a little damaged. Any thoughts.

Take no chances, the turbo is an important part of your motor, send it back and get a new one.

1. The weld spot on the waste gate flapper is normal
2. The bolt on the back of the turbine is also normal since that's one of the ways IHI balances its turbochargers.
3. If the fin on the turbine is painted a little (white or something) then that is the mark used to balance the turbo and is also totally normal.

In the last picture the oil return line does look damaged.

The oil line is just a drain.......put it on the car, no big deal IMO

In the 1st pic, is the fin bent or painted?

Exactly as stated above :)

No worries there, my VF30 appeared the same way(besides the bend in the line, not much to worry about there either though)

This makes me sick..

The only damage on that turbo is the oil line..

Some of you people need to stop posting and do more reading.. You could have cost this guy some trouble and money..

Thanks for all the help, what was thought to be white paint was actually a reflection, the scarring on the wastegate I believe to be what everyone said it was, and yes the oil line is damaged, but it shouldn't cause any harm to the application. Once again, thanks!!!

How is that? No one said "Its damaged, install it anyway." Maybe this site is too much for you, maybe here (www.nasioc.com) is better.

No, people said it was damaged to the point it should be returned, when CLEARLY the only damage was to the return line.

Anyone who knows about turbos would look at those pics and think nothing of it, everything looked 100% normal except the return line.

Basicly alot of people where commenting on things they know nothing about. which seems to happen ALOT on ALL WRX/subbie forums.

PS I am just joshing you about the sites, just having a little fun. I agree with you that people tend to post about things they know nothing about. But life goes on, I mean what are you gonna do?

Because if you know about turbos, that is a VERY common thing. It is expected to be there.

I am trying to educate people. I just don't like to see people post stuff out of their ass.. It is bad for the community..

What can i do about it you ask? try to tell people correct information, and point out the people who talk out their ass :)

I know you are just playing around. I don't mind.. Just had a bad day and when i read like the 1st 4 responses it pissed me off..

I thought it was bent to, and I spend all day surrounded by these damn turbos!

The oil return is not big deal...just make sure you get a nice tight hose around it to ensure it doesn't leak.

If anyone has a good explaination that is not out of their ass, as to why they have these. I would like to hear it..

But i ALWAYS see it on turbos..

and now that you have finally read the answer for your self maybe you should stop talking out of your ass. the turbos ive looked and worked with have had red paint on the blades not white. and as i said before the picture LOOKED <-----read that) like the blade was bent.

the only one thats making a fool of themselves and making the "community look bad" is you. stop post whoring.

Anyway, i was not picking on you directly anyway, but if you want me to, just let me know..

Wow you can use the quote key also. You are so special. Now try to use that BIG BIG brain of yours and put 2 and 2 together. If the turbos i've worked on had red paint and i saw white paint that, to me, looked like a bent blade. Why would I say anything othern than the turbo is busted get a new one? Does that make sence to you. I hope it does it really cant get much easier.

You came on here and started talking $hit. Now everyone in this thread realizes that you are usless and need to stop posting. Dont turn this into a flame war.(i will tear you apart)http://www.stlstreetracing.com/forums/images/smilies/*******.gif

You all need to stop hating on each other. All of the comments that were made regarding my turbo were valid and noted. Thanks to those of you that answered what you thought by the pictures that I posted. Don't turn my thread into a flame war. I actually thought that the first 4 replies were funny (especially the first one) and they made me take a second look at my turbo to make sure the fins were not bent. I think we all make informed decisions based on the replies that are received. If not get a professional that can answer them for you. geez take a rest you all.

My point is you should not have answered, because your answer was a guess, and useless. It was completely wrong.

Maybe next time you can post something like this:

Wow, that looks like a bent blade, if it is, you need to send it back.

I see TONS of bad info on WRX sites, it makes me not even want to be involved. You are trying to defend your incorrect guess. How am i useless again?

I don't claim to know everything, i have alot to learn too, but i don't make up **** like you. and i don't believe you either, i think you had no clue about anything on that turbo.

Anyway, i don't want to be involved with people like you, you are now on my ignore list :)

Have a nice day.

Interesting. I have a vf-23 in my car. I have a vf-30 that I'm about to put in my car..ROOT if you actually have the balls to read this you are a moron and you should not be on this site. Please remove yourself. You suck at life and you suck at making sense.

Don't tell me how to answer questions. Don't tell anyone how to say anything since you think everyone here is wrong including vendors and people who actually have things done to their cars. Unlike you who has just seen pictures of turbos. Shut your trap. If you want to read then read but please spare us your ignorance by not posting anymore. Even the person who has started this thread has pretty much told you to shut the F up. Oh and since you said I'm on your ignore list ill go ahead and e-mail you this. Stupid
