Money to blow but questions on what

I have about 1500 to spend on my recently purchased 04 sti. I already have a catback tanabe 80mm exhaust and an HKS ssqv BOV.

I want a downpipe and some kind of ecu upgrade and can prob get an intake for a decent price. Was wondering what you guys think I should get for that kinda cash.

Also If i get something like cobb accessport, there is no tuner anywhere in SC I know of and I don't know enough to do anything. Is there a plug 'n play ecu that is already loaded with maps for my setup?

Thank you for any help and please excuse the ignorance.

the acessport is a plug and play. it comes pre-loaded with maps for stage 1 and 2 for 91 and 93 octane gas. I have it for my 04 sti and i love it. as far as intakes go i would recommend a k&n typhoon

Performance driving lessons, a better investment than any mod.

well first off take off that bov... do a search to find out why i'm not going to explain it for the billionth time. next drive up to md if you can and get tuning with the money. it's probably the best thing you can do to get performance out of the car. if you can get a street tune and dyno tune. this way the car is set up for your driving style.

I've got a friend who's an instructor at Bondurant, probably one of the best schools in the nation. He's got a 97 VW Jetta wagon, and I'm willing to bet he can beat any modded WRX or STI you can throw at him in auto-x or an asphalt rally course, regardless of hp or suspension mods. He can mod any car just by getting behind the wheel!

That being said, I also agree on downpipe and ECU reflash, as you can't really improve on the stock tires. Avoid the intake and get rid of the BOV, neither is necessary (or desirable) with the stock turbo.

well... not driving to maryland (time off of work ain't happinin) and am keepin the BOV because I paid too much for it and like the way it sounds. And hopefully the ecu mods will stop any loss from VTA BOV?

If I get a catless dp and cobbtuning, I hear from alot that the stock wastegate will need to be ported..how true is that?

1500 to spend????
Want a sub-5 second 0-60 time?
Want to run mid 13-second 1/4 miles?

Follow these steps and dont skip any

Perrin Panel Filter - $ 30.00 (Cheaper and arguably better than the K&N unit)
GP Moto Intake Elbow Delete - $ 40.00 (a clean solution to a snorklectomy)
Perrin Silicon Intercooler Hoses - $130.00 (better air flow, boost will build about 500 rpm sooner)
Perrin Lightened Crank Pulley (NOT underdriven) - $ 115.00 (Increases low end umph)
COBB AccessPORT - $ 595.00 (good stuff)
Helix Uppipe - $ 175.00 (Good ****, has a flex joint to prevent leaks)
Helix Catted Downpipe - $ 380.00 (or get catless, youll save about $ 100)
Borla Hush Cat-Back - $ 500.00 (a VERY quiet, yet aggressive sounding muffler)

k, so youre looking at $ 1965.00

Just under 2k, will get you a mean machine... shop around, negotiate, and ask for discounts if you buy a few parts at a time...

This is just ONE suggestion of many possible... But this is a VERY satisfying set-up which is ballsy and not too loud by ANY means... very stealthy when you want, and a monster when you please!

PM me with any questions!

EDIT: WHOOOPSIEEEE Thought it was an 04 WRX, my bad! Same mods apply! but your results will be much faster and you wont need an uppipe(your stock one is sufficient)!

Get an Element Hydra or TurboXS Utec so you have a good base EM. Then spend the rest on a driving school. Then mod more when you have more $ and your driving skills allow you to.

all of them, save for the uppipe... I wouldnt get an uppipe on the 06, because well.. the stock one is catless.

Wait for Cobb to release the AP for the 06... I believe its still in testing until November-ish????

But yeah... expect 2-5 tenths faster results on the 06... well see what COBB does.
