BEWARE! European scams in UK, sales folks scam via vehicle purchase

These folks from europe in UK pose as buyers via email on your For Sale ad (mine was in Auto Trader) and they email you with a an offer and then they delay the transaction week after week and never give you the check. Meanwhile the car will never sell and you turn away real buyers.

Be very carefull out there.

Gino

www.mpjperformance.com

Here is a copy of 2 emails they sent me to lure you into holding the car for them. I have more emails if you all care to see them I will post it.

Email scam sample no. 1:

I have forwarded your vehicle information to my client and after evaluation and due to time constraint on the fact that we are runningshort of time.

I'm delighted to tell you that my client has recommended your vehicle with full interest and he has instructed me to carry on with the transaction rest on my shoulder.

Hope the eugine and body is in perfect condition?

He also instructed me to inform you that payment will get to you in a cashiers check of $58,000, Which will cover the cost of the car and also the cost of shippment.

So you are required to deduct the cost of your vehicle $49,900 when payment gets to you and refund balance $8,100 to the Agent (our shiper ) for him to be able to offset shipping & tax charges, and other cosmetic repair costs.

Now we really need your Truth & Honesty in refunding the balance to the shipper. After payment has reached you and balance sent to shipper, the shipper's agent will come for inspection, pick up (of vehicle & signing of title papers), make some cosmetic touches and drive to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer.

Please confirm this and forward the following informations for payment to be made and send to you as soon as possible;

Names:.........
Address:.............
Phone number:............

Your honesty, understanding and co-operation will be highly appreciated.
Have a wonderful day .

RAMSEY.

Email scam no.2 :

Hello ,
How are you today?Sorry for the delayed response to settle issues
regarding the purchase of your vehicle with my client and am happy to
tell you that he has
acepted to buy your vehicle at $52,000.Hope the vehicle is oil changed
and ready to go ,please be adviced also that the pictures on autotrader
have been evaluated and confirmed.Due to time constraint on the fact
that we are running short of time ,i am delighted to tell you that my
customer has commended your vehicle and he has instructed me to carry on
with this transaction, he also instructed me to inform you that payment
will get to you in a cashier check of $61,350 which is a refund payment
of a cancelled order earlier made by him.
Due to company policy this check has to be mad out in this amount
to you ,because company policy only allows a refund payment on one
cashier check. So you are required to deduct the cost of your vehicle $52,000
when payment gets to you and refund balance $9,350 to the shipper for
him to be able to offset shipping & tax charges, and other cosmetic
repair costs.
After payment has reached you and balance sent to shipper, the
shipper's agent will come for inspection, pick up (of vehicle & signing of
title papers), some cosmetic touches and drive to a prepaid shipper to
be shipped to my customer.
Confirm this and forward your , ADDRESS for payment to be made to you
as soon as possible.

Kind regards,
Dan.

Nice introduction the world of the 4-1-9 scams. The Secret Service has a website that gives you all the gory details. Here's the site:

Secret Service

This thing with the false auto trades is similar - but what they do is offer you like 10 grand more than the purchase price and ask you refund the difference. The check they send you is bogus and will bounce while the check you send them is alledgedly good for the money. They get your cash, you get screwed.

We spent some time a while back screwing with these guys. It was really entertaining.

just go along with it and let them send you the check.

then email them back saying ur bank is putting a hold on the check

then if they ask you to wire money to them, wire them back a quarter and put in the comments "you got owned"

I'm selling an Audi GT on craigslist.org and everyday I get about 3 to 6 emails that are from scammers. I delete any email that ends with Regards, _______.
