I am currently in the market for a tubo upgrade and need some feedback from a few peeps! 16g, VF30 or TDO4 level 2 upgrade?
My scooby is currently stock except for a blitz dd b.o.v. So, I need someting for street racing and everyday driving and something I can pretty much bolt on without adding lots of other mods (currently on a budget of about $900-$1000)!!! I need to be in the low 13's to high 12's if thats possible? If a turbo dosent sound right for me at this time, please suggest some other perfomance mods that can help me out please!!!!!
You should get upipe downpipe and an exhaust. Because with a bigger turbo you will need fuel and engine management. So I would go with uppipe downpipe exhaust and probably a reflash after that. I doubt that will put you in low 13's but a turbo on a 1000 dollar budget probably won't happen.
Just doing a turbo is pretty pointless without a lot of other mods. In fact, you can get to low 13s without doing your turbo, and doing some other things. Replacing your turboback, reflashing the ecu, and running high octane will get the job done.

Hmmmm............. well one of the reasons why I first thought of doing a turbo upgrade, is for more of a sleeper stealth look! Mostly to take out all the V8's around here and to tell them my car is stock! If my car has a big huge turboback exhaust it wont work! DP,UP,ECU I might consider those I dont know!!!
They'd never see up or downpipes, and you can get exhausts that look very similar to stock. Stromung comes to mind. But really, to take out a stock F body or 'Stang, you only need an uppipe, downpipe, and reflash.
I am really considering the TDO4 level 2 upgrade that WRXTUNER.COM is offering over on NASIOC.COM!!!! Plus a TXS UP and a TXS DP with a TXS short ram intake and a MBC! Do you think that still running the stock exhaust on this setup will choke out the motor? Maybe I can use custom piping through to the stock muffler? Just a thought? ANY SUGGESTIONS ON ALL THIS?
Stock exhaust =restricted air flow. It's time to replace it if you're going to make the kind of power you're interested in. What's the point of opening your pipes up in one spot just to close them down in another. Stock muffler? Are you batty? It's meant for one thing, noise elimination. There's superb deals on exhaust systems everywhere, so I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up.
I would recommend the 16g conversion with your soon-to be ported TD04 housing. We're talking 350-375 hp before it tops out. And you can do the entire conversion for less than $500.

How does the 16g conversion work with the TDO4 exactly? And I will also need fuel upgrades as well, correct? Injectors, what size? Fuel pump, what brand? Fuel rail, what brand? Sorry noobie in the house!!!!
Well, you get your turbo ported, (compressor housing, wastegate bypass, exhaust outlet). Then buy a 16g wheel off of a DSM site, cause they're cheaper and more available there. Send your turbo out to get balanced, and you're good to go, as far as the turbo part goes. A larger or ported up and down pipe will help flow, as well as porting the exit hole of your exh. manifold. So first step would be asking around your area about good machine shops, and prices. Plan on not having your car for a week or two if you go that route.
As far as fuel management goes, I'm not the one to advise you. I know far more about 2.2 and 2.5 fuel capacities. But I can help you with getting the wheel if you want. Good luck, man.
